Here is a fun and delicious recipe to make with your daughter. Haley had a blast making these with me. I mixed up a smaller batch of dough, so she could play alongside me.
Gather ingredients:
1/4 C organic shortening (I used Spectrum brand)
2 C self-rising flour
3/4 C whole milk
1/4 C butter (half stick), melted
1/2 C sugar
2 teapoons cinnamon
Mix shortening and flour together with a fork until crumbly.
Stir in milk and turn with wooden spoon until dough forms.
Place dough onto floured surface and knead until smooth.
Roll dough out into a 1/4 inch-thick rectangle (or oval)
Brush or spread butter with spoon onto dough
Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over dough
Roll up dough, using the long side
Slice into 8-10 slices and place on baking sheet
Bake at 425 degrees for 18 minutes.
Drizzle with icing (below)
Icing:
Mix together 1 C confectioners sugar, 3 Tablespoons milk and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Wow, Jenn ... Haley looks sooooo grown up and so old in that picture!! What a sweet helper you have. I bet she made the cinnamon rolls that much sweeter!
ReplyDeleteStill praying for you and the house projects! Hope all is going well :)
