Amish White Bread

This has surpassed every homemade white bread recipe I've ever tried. It is so simple to make, and you don't need a bread machine to do it. If you like good old fashion baking, you have to try this! Makes the best sandwich bread. This makes two loaves, so you can gobble them both up like we usually do, or chop one of the loaves up into 1 inch squares and freeze for future recipes (stuffing, breakfast casseroles/stratas, croutons, etc)

2 cups warm water
2/3 cup pure cane sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups all purpose flour or bread flour

Dissolve sugar in warm water in a large bowl; stir in yeast. Allow to sit until mixture is foamy, about 10 minutes.

Mix  sea salt and oil into the yeast mixture. Add in flour one cup at a time, mixing between each cup. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, roll the dough around so that it coats with oil. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled, about an hour.

Punch dough down. Knead for a couple minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise for 30 minutes.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
